Specialized Galen Myotherapy for the dogs of the San Fernando Valley.

Through gentle, hands-on techniques, we can help support your dog's mobility, ease their stiffness, and improve their overall quality of life. All sessions require veterinary consent.

For a Dog at Any Stage of Life

the senior dog

As dogs age, it's common to see them slow down. Myotherapy is exceptional for managing the chronic muscular tension and compensatory issues that come with age, helping to ease stiffness and improve their daily comfort.

The active and sporting dog

For the canine athlete, myotherapy can be a key part of their conditioning and recovery routine. It helps maintain muscle health, can improve performance and flexibility, and may reduce the risk of soft tissue injuries.

The Puppy

Puppyhood is a time of rapid growth. Gentle myotherapy can help a growing puppy develop better body awareness and proprioception, addressing minor muscular imbalances before they become significant issues later in life.

dogs with Chronic Conditions

For dogs with veterinarian-diagnosed conditions like osteoarthritis or hip dysplasia, myotherapy is an invaluable tool for easing the secondary muscular strain and compensation, directly supporting their quality of life.

What is Galen Myotherapy?

Galen Myotherapy is a specialized and gentle form of canine massage that focuses on identifying and easing the muscular tension and compensatory patterns that often lead to stiffness and discomfort in dogs. It's a holistic and effective way to improve your dog's mobility, comfort, and overall quality of life.

My approach is built on three core principles:

  • A Dog-Led Approach (Positive PACT™) Your dog is an active participant, not just a passive recipient. The sessions are conducted in a calm environment, at the dog's pace, and they are always free to move or take a break. This choice-based method builds trust and allows for a much deeper and more effective session.

  • Targeted & Effective This is not a generic, all-over massage. I use a deep understanding of canine anatomy to focus on the specific muscle groups that are causing issues. By addressing these key areas, we can effectively help release tension and support better movement patterns.

  • Collaborative & Supportive We are a team—you, your veterinarian, and me. Your vet provides the essential diagnosis and medical oversight, you provide the invaluable insights into your dog's daily life, and I provide the specialized hands-on work. Together, we create a complete circle of support for your dog's wellness.

A Lifelong Passion, A New Purpose

My name is Jennifer, and I am the founder of California Canine Myotherapy. As the first Galen Canine Myotherapist in California, my mission is to bring a new level of comfort, mobility, and wellness to the dogs of the San Fernando Valley and the greater Los Angeles area.

My journey into myotherapy wasn't just a career choice; it was a calling. After years in a different professional field, I felt a deep need to do work that was more meaningful and directly impactful. As a lifelong dog lover and someone who understands firsthand what it's like to live with chronic pain, I was drawn to the gentle, effective, and dog-led approach of Galen Myotherapy.

I've seen the incredible difference that targeted, empathetic bodywork can make in an animal's life. It's not just about easing their physical discomfort; it's about giving them back their joy, their playfulness, and their spark.

I am committed to working as a respectful partner with you and your veterinarian to create a complete circle of care for your beloved dog. I look forward to meeting you and helping your dog feel their very best.
